Music by Andy Akiho
We caught up with CONTACT! composer Andy Akiho just before rehearsal to discuss his new piece Oscillate, a New York Philharmonic Commission which receives its World Premiere this Friday as part of the fourth season of the Philharmonic's new-music series. Andy filled us in on how he got "addicted to the piece" while writing it, and what to look out for in the work like the use of chopsticks and credit cards in the piano part. Check out this video to explore some of the underlying messages in his work.
